Rachel and Jennifer: Marin Center For The Arts Wedding
When Rachel and Jennifer first approached me about shooting their wedding, I was a little nervous and a lot excited. I enjoy taking on new challenges and capturing my first same sex wedding in a way deserving of those who’ve overcome many barriers and obstacles to get there was one I was eager to take on. With the perfectly timed fall of Proposition 8, Rachel and Jen took their vows in front of a warm group of friends and family at the Marin Center for the Arts, an old military fort. Everything from the catering, the wildflower floral arrangements, the handmade buntings down to the venue fit together perfectly to reflect the brides’ craftiness and fine taste. In the theme of overcoming obstacles, everyone hurdled one final one when the venue lost power for 2 hours right before all the dancing began. I was pleasantly surprised at how no one broke step despite the lost of electricity and no cell phone reception. Pies were served and happily eaten in the dark, entertainment was provided by a guest cum professional musician on the piano and even the Horah happened with the aid of some iPhone flashlight apps and an acapella version of Havah Nagila!
